About Anna.

Picture
I grew up in Carrollton, TX and attended Texas Woman's University, where I got my Bachelor's in Music Education. After graduation, I found out that I didn't really want to be a teacher after all, so I earned Masters degrees in both Musicology and Library Science from the University of North Texas. I am currently looking for full-time employment as a librarian while working part time in a music library.

I enjoy watching tv (too much!), food (learning about it, cooking it, eating it), and working out (to support my love of food!).

About Courts.

Picture
Courts grew up in Florida, Kansas, Illinois and Texas, as his dad moved around for his job with Frito-Lay. He attended Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, where he earned a Bachelor's in Fine Art. His major was graphic design and his minor was painting, but after graduation he discovered that he is a much better photographer than graphic designer. He is now pursuing a career in photography, especially commercial, fashion and nature photography. The photo to the right is actually a self-portrait!

Courts also enjoys drawing, spinning house music, shooting in film (I know, what a dinosaur!), studying cryptozoology and my cooking.

How we met.

Picture
On June 30, 2005, Courts was sitting in a coffee shop, looking at pictures of a friend's birthday party on her phone. He saw a picture of me laughing and decided he wanted to meet me. That afternoon, just after a horrible interview, I got a call from that mutual friend saying that her friend Courts wanted to meet me that night and suggested we get together for drinks. I was late, but we closed down the bar and then talked (and kissed!) for hours on the steps of the courthouse in downtown Denton. And we've been together ever since that night! The photo on the left is from Halloween 2005, four months after we met

Together, we like to go hear DJs, try new restaurants, hang out at coffee shops, go to the gym and dote on our kitty, Wednesday!

The Proposal.

Picture
In summer of 2009, we went to the Big Island of Hawaii with my family for a two-week vacation celebrating my graduation with my second Master's, my sister's graduation from college, and my parents' 30th anniversary. I had a feeling that he would propose while we were there, and since we had planned a dinner out for just the two of us on the last night, I thought for sure he would do it then. On our second to last night, we decided to go see the lava flows not far from where we were staying. Courts and I stopped by the rental house to pick up some flashlights and tried to find our way to the lava flows. However, it was very dark after sundown, and we couldn't find the entrance! It was after they closed, so we just went back to the house. I was really upset that we didn't get to see it, so I plopped on the couch and turned on the tv. A few minutes later, Courts came in and said to me, "I know you were upset that we didn't get to see the lava, so I wanted to give you this to make you feel better" and then handed me the ring box! I was not expecting him to propose at that moment, so I was in shock! He then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! We got to have a little time to ourselves and then my family came back and we got to celebrate with them. I never thought he would manage to surprise me, so it was just perfect!
